Know your Karnataka

Bengaluru TravelKotilingeshwara a.k.a Kotilinga temple is about 90 km from Bengaluru and 12 km from KGF in Kolar district of Karnataka. This complex has the tallest Shivalinga in the world: 108 ft high and a 35 ft high Nandhi statue. The temple was built with the first Shivalinga in 1980 by a devotee, Sambha Shiva Murthy, whose vision was to install 1 crore Shivalingas. Over the years lakhs of Shivalingas of various sizes have come up. Current count of Shivalingas here is said to be over 90 lakhs. Devotees can install Shivalingas here. The temple also conducts mass marriages on a weekly basis. The temple is very crowded on Maha Shivaratri.
