Know your Bengaluru

Bengaluru travelTipu Sultan's Fort and Palace are located near the busy K R Market area. A mud fort built by Kempe Gowda II in 1536, was converted to a stone fort by Hyder Ali and expanded by his son Tipu Sultan. The British captured this fort in 1791. Construction of the wooden palace was also started by Hyder Ali and completed by Tipu Sultan in 1790. Adjascent to this palace is Kote Venkataramana temple. The fort is at a walkable distance from the palace.
