Know your Bengaluru

Mother Mary's Feast was celebrated on 8th September 2013, by St.Mary's Basilica, Bengaluru. The procession was flagged off by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the presence of Bangalore Archbishop Bernard Moras. The birthday of Mother Mary, honoured as Our Lady of Good Health in this shrine, is celebrated with all grandeur every year. Before the feast, a flag is hoisted everyday, for 9 days of Novena from August 29 to September 7. Throughout the feast devotees are attired in light orange clothing. On the day of feast, people travel from distant places without any distinction of caste, creed or religion. Mass services are offered in different languages and mass marriages are conducted for the poor and needy. In the evening, an illuminated chariot carrying the 6 ft statue of Mother Mary, is drawn by devotees in a procession around the streets of Shivajinagar. Read more about St.Mary's Basilica ...
