St. Marks Cathedral founded in 1808 had celebrated its bicentennial bash in 2007. The church and the road are named after St. Mark, believed to be the first Gospel writer. The colonial structure with Victorian architecture was modelled along the lines of the St. Paul's Cathedral in London. Roman archers along the walls, external bells, wooden carvings in the entrance, stained glass work, ornate ceilings and domes are some of the striking features.
