 Halasuru Someshwara Temple is located near the busy Halasuru Market area. The temple was built in the 12th century by the Cholas, extended by the Vijayanagara rulers and renovated by the Kempe Gowdas I and II in the 16th century. Lord Someshwara & Goddess Kamakshamma are the main deities, whose wedding is celebrated as the annual Halasuru Palakotsava. Deities from 68 other temples arrive in their spectacular palanquins to witness the wedding. The ancient temple pond was excavated in 2010.
