Bull TempleBull Temple Road in Basavanagudi, is venue for Kadalekayi Parishe, the historic annual groundnut fair celebrated for 2 days, starting the last Monday of the Karthika month. This year, the festival started on 28th November. Price of groundnuts have shot up, due to lack of rains and poor yield. Participation of farmers too has gone down this year. Plastic bags have replaced the eco friendly cloth bags. Legend goes that a bull which trampled the groundnut crops, was appeased only when the farmers prayed to Lord Shiva promising to offer their first harvest to Basavanna, the bull.
