Know your Bengaluru

Kadalekayi Parishe, is the Groundnut Festival held every November near the Bull Temple in Basavanagudi, Bengaluru. Heaps of different varieties of groundnuts spring up all around the temple. Vendors sell groundnuts, chikkis and trinkets. Groundnut cultivators from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu offer their first harvest to the Basavanna. Legend goes that a bull which trampled the groundnut crops, was appeased only when the farmers prayed to Lord Shiva promising to offer the best of their harvest to the bull.
