Navratri falls between 13 - 23 October this year. Tradition was to celebrate each of the 4 seasonal transitions for 9 nights ( Navratri) and 10 days. Hence Navratri occurs 4 times in a year according to Hindu calendars, out of which Shardiya Navratri (Sep/Oct) is the most popular. Dussehra also symbolizes the triumph of good over the evil. Durga Puja in Bengal celebrates the victory of Goddess Durga over Mahishasura. Central India celebrates Rama's annihilation of Ravana by burning effigies.
